We'll come up with a game plan for your session. After that, you'll be able to sign your contract and submit your session deposit online.

Which regions do you provide photography services for?

New York:

Central Park South, Chelsea, East Village, Flatiron District, Garment District, Hudson Square, Midtown Manhattan, SoHo, Tribeca, Upper East Side, Upper West Side, West Village, Park Slope, Williamsburg, DUMBO

New Jersey:

Hoboken, Weehawken, Jersey City, Fort Lee, West New York, Edgewater

Where does the actual photo session take place?

Due to the current pandemic, our photo sessions are safely held outdoors. Since New York City has so many stunning locations that provide a perfect backdrop for epic photos, we’ve got plenty of options. We can choose from a number of iconic locations that interest you, or we can also do the session around your neighborhood or at a park you frequently go to. Especially for family portraits, there's something really nice about kids feeling comfortable in and familiar with their surroundings, and having photos that capture what might be a typical day for your family.

When are you available for shoots?

We are currently available for shoots on weekends. We do have some availability very early on weekday mornings or early evenings in the spring and summer months. For outdoor shoots, we recommend that we shoot during the three hours after sunrise or the three hours before sunset to take advantage of that beautiful light. Indoor shoots take place any time during daylight hours.

How long are your sessions?

Sessions typically last around an hour, sometimes more and sometimes less. We like to keep the length of the shoot flexible.

Photo Session FAQs

What should we wear?

We recommend that you wear whatever makes you feel great! We want the shoot to showcase who you are, so stick with pieces that reflect your style and personality. We recommend against everyone wearing the same thing (no matchy-matchy looks), but coordinated looks can come across nicely in photos (same color family / all earth tones or neutrals). It is also recommended to stay away from big patterns, words, characters, or logos, as they can be distracting.

Accessorize! When you put suspenders on a little boy, or a bright headband on a girl, cute overload.

In the fall and winter, layer it up. It will keep you warm, while also creating visual interest.

How should we prepare for the session?

You don't have to do anything but here are some tips we have to make the session run more smoothly.

Outdoor Shoots

If we're going to a park or the beach, we’d recommend bringing a blanket to sit on (one that you'd like to see in photos for years to come), snacks and water / bottle for the kids, diapers, a change of clothes, and perhaps a favorite toy. We don't shoot with props, but chasing a ball and blowing bubbles can be fun activities that elicit lots of joy and are fun for parents and kids to do together.

In Home Shoots

Turn off all overhead lights -- depending on the amount of natural light your home gets, we'll likely spend most of our time near the windows. To help that natural light get in, open all shades or blinds as far as they'll open. Remove all distracting objects that could be near or around any areas where we might be shooting.

What if it rains on the day of our shoot?

We keep a number of backup dates open each month in case of bad weather, and there is no fee to reschedule to a new date if it’s raining or extreme overcast – in fact we encourage it. Sunshine adds warmth and life to an image, and it’s definitely worth waiting for.

We require a non-refundable retainer fee up front when you book your session, and this fee will be applied towards the rescheduled shoot date. Unfortunately, we cannot provide a refund if you decide you need to cancel the shoot.

Post Session FAQs

How soon will I get my photos after the shoot?

Our turnaround time for editing is about 3 weeks. Once your photos have been edited, you will receive a link to a password-protected online gallery. From there, you can view and download the digital files. If you need the images quicker, expedited 7 day delivery is available for $125.

*We are in the process of setting up an option to order prints through the gallery -- stay tuned for more info on prints.

Do you deliver every image you shoot?

No, we do not. We shoot a large volume of pictures during your session and we ultimately eliminate duplicate images, test shots, out of focus shots, shots with bad expressions and other images that may dilute the overall product delivery. This way, you can be confident that you'll end up with the best of the best images.

Do you provide digital files?

Yes, all packages include full-resolution digital JPEG files with a print release, which allows you to reproduce images for personal use as many times as needed.

Do you touch up all the images in our image download?

Yes. We select the best images from the batch of photos that are taken to edit and share with you. Every image we deliver is meticulously post produced with our unique style of post-production. This involves color correction, exposure adjustment, selective black and white processing, clarity adjustments, tone-mapping, and other corrections.

What are RAW files and can we have them?

RAW is the format most professional photographers shoot in. They are very large files with lots of information, which can be manipulated in post production. We think of RAW files the same way a writer may think of their notebooks or journals. They are not a finished product, so we don’t give them out because we believe in delivering a finished product that reflects our very high standards. But don’t worry, you can still make extremely large sized prints from our high-res JPEG’s.

I love my photos! Can I share them online?

Absolutely! We do ask that you credit @enfocusstudios on Instagram, or reference our website enfocusstudios.com, as referrals and word of mouth help us sustain and grow our business.
